Make a positive impact

Joel chose to pursue a career in teaching because he understood the profound impact that teachers can have on children's lives. From his time teaching Year 5 at Denison State School in Emerald, Joel continues to be reminded of the difference he can make in the lives of the students in his community.

Variety and opportunities

While currently a Year 3 teacher at Ferny Grove in Brisbane, Katrina has had a diverse career as a classroom teacher, a small school principal and a curriculum advisor all across Queensland. Katrina is also extremely passionate about her role mentoring the next generation of teachers.

Tammy’s journey into teaching

Tammy is a proud Indigenous person and teacher at Bwgcolman Community School on Palm Island in north Queensland. Her advice to preservice teachers is that teaching is hard work, empowering and rewarding.

Making a difference as a teacher

2018 Teach Queensland Ambassador, Ally returns to Mount Isa where she started her teaching career. Ally fondly reflects upon her time teaching in Mount Isa, the friendships formed, and the everlasting impact teachers can make.
