Financial assistance for your professional experience placements
Professional in-school teaching experience is a critical component of every teacher’s preparation, especially near the completion of a teaching degree. We know that this commitment often requires preservice teachers to juggle their personal, employment and study commitments so they can give their full attention to their teaching placement.
If you are currently studying an
Initial Teacher Education (ITE) program, such as a Bachelor of Education or Master of Teaching and want to complete one or more of your professional experience placements in a
Queensland state school, you may be eligible for financial assistance to help you complete your placement, through one of the following programs:
-
Teach Queensland Prac Placement Grant—supporting preservice teachers to complete their final professional experience placement in any Queensland state school with a grant of $5,000.
-
Beyond the Range Professional Experience Grant—supporting eligible preservice teachers to undertake a professional experience placement in a rural or remote Queensland state school (TR4–TR7). Grants are valued at up to $5,000 depending on duration of the placement.
-
Regional Professional Experience Grant—supporting eligible preservice teachers to undertake a professional experience placement in a regional Queensland state school (TR2–TR3). Grants are valued at up to $3,400 depending on duration of the placement.
- Supported Pathway into Teaching—supporting school-based employees of the Department of Education to access paid leave to undertake their professional experience placements and complete exams. Please talk with your school business manager for details.
If you are completing your final professional experience placement in a regional, rural or remote Queensland state school, you may be eligible for a Beyond the Range or Regional Professional Experience Grants, in addition to the Teach Queensland Prac Placement Grant—providing you with up to $10,000 in financial assistance, depending on the duration and location of your placement.
