Applications for the Semester 1 2025 Teach Queensland Prac Placement Grant are now open.
If you’re a preservice teacher undertaking your final professional experience placement in a Queensland state school, the Teach Queensland Prac Placement Grant will provide you with a grant of up to $5,000* to assist with placement-related expenses.

If you undertake your placement in a Queensland state school in a regional community, you may also be eligible for our Regional Professional Experience Grant.
Or if you undertake your placement in a Queensland state school within a rural or remote community, you may also be eligible for our Beyond the Range Professional Experience Grant.

To apply for our Teach Queensland Prac Placement Grant, you’ll need to submit your application and supporting documents via our online application process External link.

We assess and process applications as they are received. Due to the large number of applications received each semester, it may take us up to 6 weeks to provide you with an update on your application for the grant.
Please check your email account regularly – including Junk/Spam folders – for emails that may include requests for further information to support your application, or to provide you with an offer for the grant.
If your application is successful, the grant will be provided to you as a lump sum following receipt of the required information such as bank details. Processing of the grant will occur as soon as possible, however, it may take up to 4 weeks for you to receive the grant.
We recommend you keep receipts for placement-related expenses, and seek financial advice regarding potential tax implications or impact on your income, tax, and/or benefits received/to be paid.
*If you’re an employee of the Department of Education during your placement, the grant will be provided to you with your fortnightly pay and will be taxed.
A condition of payment is to notify the department of any changes to the approved placement particulars.

Yes. You can receive both grants as long as it’s for your final placement for your teaching qualification and you meet the eligibility requirements for each grant.
If your final placement for your teaching qualification is in Semester 1 2025, you would apply for the Semester 1 2025 grant.
No. This grant is only available for final placements undertaken in a Queensland state school.
This grant is available for final placements undertaken in a Queensland state school which include state schools that offer a State Delivered Kindergarten External link program (within a eligible location). If your final placement (relating to your qualification) is in a kindy or a long day care centre that is not a State Delivered Kindergarten, you could consider the Early Childhood Practicum Placement Grant External link.
