Entry requirements for teaching programs

English


  • English
  • English as an additional language (EAL)
  • Literature
  • English and literature extension

Maths


  • General mathematics
  • Mathematical methods
  • Specialist mathematics

Primary teachers are also required to have one of these science subjects:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Earth and environmental science
  • Marine science
  • Physics
  • Psychology

It is assumed that students have completed units three and four in English, maths and science. These are the minimum prerequisites to ensure you’re eligible to start your teaching degree once you finish school, so it’s important you prepare early and choose the right senior subjects.
