TR = Transfer Rating for a school. The higher the rating, the more remote the school is.

 Additional benefits

  • The recognition of service payment is paid in September each year for 8 years while you remain in TR4-7 schools. The value increases from years 1–3, then remains at the third year rate for years 3–8. Details of these payments are in the choose your teaching adventure booklet.
  • Depending on your location, you may be eligible to receive additional return flights for you and your dependant family members.
  • If you are a beginning teacher, you may be eligible for the beginning teacher payment:
    TR4–5 $1,000, TR6 $1,500, TR7 $2,000.
  • An identified location payment is paid annually for up to 5 years to teachers appointed to schools in identified Indigenous communities. This payment is made in October.
  • Depending on your location, you may be able to access subsidised housing.
  • You will receive assistance to move to your new community.
  • You may also be eligible for other non-RoRRS allowances and benefits such as:
    • specified sites allowance
    • reduction of Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) debt
    • access to apply for a Professional Learning Grant to undertake your Master of Education.

  • All payments listed are annual amounts.
  • All payments and benefits are pro rata if you are not employed fulltime.
  • The recognition of location travel allowance is paid fortnightly or in two lump sums in March and September.
