We asked our Teach Queensland community on social media what it is about teaching that makes your heart sing. We were blown away with all the responses, and they left us feeling all warm and fuzzy! The importance of positive relationships with students was a key theme in the responses we received and here are some of those responses.
Hands down it’s the relationships that you form and develop with students because out of that, so much flows (learning, inclusion, differentiation, developing interests, shaping character, etc.). A legacy can endure long after they have left your classroom if you’ve established strong relationships. – Matthew C.
Getting to know students on a personal level and making them feel that you care about each and every one of them. – Carly S.
Making lasting impressions, unlocking potential, forming positive relationships, school camps! – Rebecca J.
Because whatever else is happening in their world, you can be the one person to show a child they matter, that they are seen and that they can achieve and succeed. That connection, once forged, is unbreakable. – Angela H.
Building meaningful relationship with others, most of whom just happen to be young and full of life! – Leanne N.
Making those relationships that last, even after the students leave school. – Bronwyn D.
When you meet them 15–20 years later and they still call you Miss - Disey D.
Obviously every day is special, but there is nothing like running in to past students years later and hearing their recounts of being in class together. The stuff that has stuck with them, which seems mundane in the present, but for some reason, leaves an impact, gets me right in the heart. – Miss P.
