Charley gives her perspective about being a first-year Indigenous teacher at Kirwan State High School in Townsville, where her own Year 11 teacher inspired her to embark on a journey to take on teaching as a career.

“Being an Indigenous teacher is really important to me. I’m able to close the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous education rates and of course being that teacher I’m able to inspire the Indigenous kids within this school.”
