Our dedicated teacher recruitment team is here to connect you with teaching roles that align with your skills, teaching areas and preferred locations, whether in vibrant urban centres or welcoming regional, remote, and coastal communities.
We work with our principals and school leaders across the state to understand their workforce needs and to match applicants with great opportunities every day.
By submitting your application through our online application portal is the the first step in our teacher recruitment process and ensures that you can be considered for relevant vacancies by our recruiters.

When to
apply
We make offers of employment every day and we encourage you to apply as early as possible, so we know you are interested in teaching in Queensland state schools. Applying early can increase your chance of securing a teaching role that’s available when you’re ready to start teaching and aligns with your subject area, desired location and employment preferences.
You don’t need to wait until you graduate to apply and we recommend that preservice teachers submit their application early in their final year of study.
If you already have teacher registration or are an experienced teacher making the leap into state schools, you can submit your application at any time.

online portal, so we can confirm your
eligibility for employment and consider you for relevant vacancies.
You can start your application at any time and return to it later to add the required documents and information. You can also update your employment and location preferences at any time.

Once you’ve submitted your application, here’s what to expect:
We will review your application and confirm your identity and eligibility to teach in Queensland state schools. Our application team may request missing or additional documents such as the following which can be submitted via our secure portal:

Once your application is approved you will receive email confirmation and your departmental ID number. Keep this number handy as it will be important as you progress through the recruitment process and into employment.
Our team will contact you by phone or email, so please keep an eye out for these opportunities, including checking your SPAM/Junk email folder regularly.
If you have applied to undertake casual/relief teaching you will aslo receive information from
TRACER to help you set up your profile and connect with schools.
Next, our candidate care team will contact you to discuss your application, including where you want to teach, what you’re interested in teaching and when you are able to commence. They add this information to your profile to assist with the recruitment process. They will also organise for you to undertake a short, recorded video interview and contact your referees.
Lastly, we will match you with teaching vacancies that align with your teaching and location preferences and the skills you will bring to a school. We will keep you updated on opportunities and let you know when we are referring you to schools for consideration.

It’s crucial that you keep your contact information, location preferences and availability up to date as you progress through our application and recruitment process.
