Eligibility to apply
You don’t have to wait until you graduate or have received your teacher registration before you can
apply to teach in Queensland state schools, via our online portal. This helps us to assess your eligibility for employment and consider you for opportunities in our schools that align with your teaching and location preferences.
You may also be invited to participate in a face-to-face or online interview, to confirm your suitability for employment.

To be eligible to commence employment as a teacher in a Queensland state school, you'll need:
You can’t commence as a teacher in a Queensland state school until you have received written confirmation from us that you meet our minimum requirements for employment.
Supporting evidence and information
As part of our application and recruitment process, you may be required to provide documentary evidence that supports your application and confirms your suitability to teach in our schools. This may include:
- academic transcripts for current and previous tertiary studies
- professional experience reports
- resume or curriculum vitae
- current referee contact details
- examples of lesson planning and teaching.

If you have previously been restricted in your eligibility for employment, you can request a review to determine if you meet the department’s current requirements for employment.
