Housing and relocation support

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Moving to a new school and community? If you’re heading to an eligible location, we want to help you to relocate and get settled in your new location, including helping with the logistics, travel and accommodation so you can focus on the exciting opportunity ahead.

Eligible beginning and experienced teachers and school leaders will have access to:

• a concierge service to support you with relocation and settlement
• access to subsidised teacher housing, in some locations
• the Rural and Remote Housing Incentive Scheme​ (RRHIS) providing up to 12 months rental assistance in some locations.
  

Relocation and settlement support

The department provides assistance with organising the relocation of personal items, including furniture and vehicles, and covers reasonable costs associated with relocation and travel to a new school community.

Our concierge service provides additional tailored relocation assistance when you relocate to an eligible school community for a permanent, temporary or relieving opportunity. This includes assistance with coordinating the move of personal items, organising travel to the new school community, booking temporary accommodation for arrival in the location and helping to secure suitable accommodation within the local rental market.

The department has partnered with Kent Relocation Group to deliver the concierge service and will work directly with you to plan and support your move. You will receive access to the service after you accept an offer of employment in an eligible school.

The suite of services offered are tailored for each eligible location and to suit individual requirements. These services are offered in addition to the relocation support provided to all Queensland state school teachers. Services include:

• needs analysis to gather information about you and your family and support you require when relocating, including accommodation type. Travel arrangements to get you to your new community, including flights and temporary accommodation
• home search service to help you find accommodation through the local rental market, if teacher housing is unavailable
  
• settling-in service to help you get settled and familiar with your new community.

Teacher housing and accommodation support

Teacher housing is available in many of our rural and remote communities across Queensland, and available to teachers at a significantly reduced rental fee. Access to housing is dependent on location, personal circumstances and availability and can be discussed with you as part of the recruitment process.​​

The Rural and Remote Housing Incentive Scheme provides additional accommodation support for teachers relocating to a school with critical vacancies, including up to 12 months of rental assistance.

This table provides an overview of Queensland state schools currently eligible for additional relocation, settlement and housing support through the concierge service and the Rural and Remote Housing Incentive Scheme.

Please note that this list is reviewed and updated regularly and reflects schools that have priority vacancies.
