Financial assistance for your professional experience placements

Professional in-school teaching experience is a critical component of every teacher’s preparation, especially near the completion of a teaching degree. We know that this commitment often requires preservice teachers to juggle their personal, employment and study commitments so they can give their full attention to their teaching placement.

If you’re a preservice teacher currently studying an Initial Teacher Education program, such as a Bachelor of Education or Master of Teaching, and want to complete one or more of your professional experience placement/s in a Queensland state school, you may be eligible for financial assistance to help you with placement-related expenses through one of the following programs:

  • Teach Queensland Prac Placement Grant – undertake your final professional experience placement in a Queensland state school, and you may be eligible for a grant of up to $5,000*.
  • Beyond the Range Professional Experience Grant – undertake your placement in a rural or remote Queensland state school (TR4-7), and you could receive a grant up to $5,000* (dependant on the duration of the placement).

  • Supported Pathway into Teaching program – if you’re currently employed with the Department of Education you can access paid leaveto undertake your professional experience placements and exams. Please talk with your school business manager for details.
