From tradie to teacher – nailing a career move

After 6 years as a carpenter, Lance Mackenzie transitioned his skills and experience on the tools into the classroom to become an Industrial Technology and Design (ITD) teacher.

21 years later, he's an ITD teacher at Charters Towers State High School and it's a decision he does not regret. In this video, he shares why he made the switch and reflects on the opportunity he now has to give students skills they wouldn't have otherwise developed.
