If you already see yourself as a teacher in front of a classroom of your own, you could be interested to know you could start your teaching degree at high school as part of your senior secondary studies.
Some Queensland universities offer programs that provide senior secondary students with the opportunity to start their university studies before they finish high school.
Starting studies early enables you to:
- get a head start on your undergraduate teaching degree
- complete some first-year university subjects in conjunction with your senior studies
- reduce the number of courses you need to complete your degree when you commence university and potentially reduce the cost of your teaching degree
- be considered for direct entry to your preferred university
- better understand the expectations of university study
- confidently transition from secondary to tertiary study.
Secondary student pathway programs
If you’re keen to start your teaching degree while at high school, the following university programs may be available to you. Many of these programs are offered for free or at a reduced cost to secondary students.
You will also need to discuss your interest in these programs with your school to ensure that they can support your preferred study pathway.
