Flexible work options

Life balance is something we actively encourage for our teachers. We support flexible work practices and provide several employment options including temporary and casual roles.

Permanent employment

Our permanent full-time teachers are required to work ten days per fortnight (Monday to Friday).

Our permanent part-time teachers generally work from two to nine days per fortnight.

Permanent appointments fill vacancies that have not been filled by a permanent teacher seeking transfer or returning from leave. To satisfy state-wide employment demands, permanent teachers may be required to work anywhere in Queensland sometime during their career.

Temporary employment

Temporary teachers generally fill vacancies left by permanent employees taking leave.

Temporary or contract teachers generally work for periods of at least five days in a full or part-time capacity.

Casual employment

'Relief', 'supply' or 'replacement' teachers can be engaged for a minimum of two hours to a maximum of five hours per day, usually during the absence of a teacher.
